Biography  
        A candidate for the doctorate in piano performance at the City University of New York (CUNY), Matthew Rubenstein received earlier degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the Manhattan School of Music. In 1993 he won the Artists International Debut competition in New York City, which led to a performance at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall the following year. In 1999 he was awarded First Prize in the Bartok-Kabalevsky-Prokofiev International Competition in Radford, Virginia. Matt Rubenstein has given frequent recitals in New York City, Washington, D.C, and throughout Germany. He spent 1989-90 in São Paulo, Brazil, where he studied with the pianist Daisy de Luca. Since then, he has returned to give solo and chamber performances throughout Brazil. Mr. Rubenstein's teachers have included Jerome Lowenthal, Edward Aldwell, Charles Timbrell, and Ian Hobson. In 1999 he was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to study in Berlin, where he currently resides. His recording of the complete solo piano music of Aribert Reimann appeared on cpo in 2007.   Index
